Safety Technical Regulations for Nail Gun Operation

Category: Product Knowledge

Time: 2026-08-04

Summary: Proper operation of nail guns requires strict adherence to the "check-match-protect-inspect" four-step method: Before operation, ensure the equipment is in good condition, parameters are matched, protection is in place, and the system is functioning normally; during operation, maintain vertical positioning and fire at intervals; during maintenance, ensure thorough cleaning, regular lubrication, and safe storage. Safety red lines: Unauthorized modifications, operation at excessive temperatures, and operation without a valid license are strictly prohibited.

I. Preparations Before Use

1. Equipment Inspection: Thoroughly inspect the appearance of the nail gun to ensure it is free of deformation and cracks, and that key components such as the barrel and firing mechanism are intact; confirm that the certificate of conformity and test report accompanying the equipment are valid.

2. Parameter Matching: Select the appropriate model of nail gun according to the work requirements, ensuring that the nail specifications (diameter 3-6mm, length 22-105mm) are compatible with the equipment. Mixing different specifications is strictly prohibited.

3. Safety Protection: Wear safety goggles, earplugs, and protective gloves as required by GB 32166 standard; clear the surrounding environment before operation, ensuring that there are no unauthorized personnel within a 5-meter radius, and set up clear safety warning signs.

4. System Testing: For electric nail guns, check the battery voltage (rated 18-20V) and the insulation performance of the wiring; for pneumatic nail guns, connect to 0.4-0.8MPa compressed air and rigorously test the air circuit sealing.

II. Standard Operating Procedures

1. Nail Loading: Open the magazine according to the operating manual, and load the nails vertically and steadily (the loading amount in a single operation must not exceed the rated capacity of the equipment). Ensure that the nail fixing slot and the chamber slot are precisely engaged. Close the magazine and tighten the locking buckle.

2. Positioning and Calibration: During operation, keep the nail gun perpendicular to the working surface at a 90° angle. The distance between the muzzle and the substrate surface should be controlled at 8-10mm. Tilting or excessive pressure is strictly prohibited.

3. Firing Operation: After confirming that the working environment is safe, grip the gun firmly with both hands and slowly pull the trigger to fire. The interval between consecutive shots must be ≥2 seconds, and the number of shots per minute per station must not exceed 50.

4. Troubleshooting: If nail jamming or abnormal firing occurs, immediately disconnect the power/air supply, turn the muzzle to a safe direction, let it stand for 5 minutes, and then disassemble and troubleshoot according to the instructions. Unauthorized forced disassembly is strictly prohibited.

III. Post-Use Maintenance

1. Equipment Cleaning: Thoroughly remove metal debris from the barrel and magazine using a dedicated cleaning brush. Wipe key components with a lint-free cloth dampened with WD-40 rust inhibitor to ensure no residue remains.

2. Component Maintenance: Monthly apply lithium-based grease conforming to GB/T 7324 standard to the gas cylinder nail gun seals and the transmission gears of the electric nail gun. Regularly check the wear of O-rings; replace them immediately when wear exceeds 0.5mm.

3. Storage Management: After operation, completely disconnect all power connections and remove any remaining nails. Store the nail gun and ammunition separately in a moisture-proof and explosion-proof cabinet. The storage environment must meet the requirements of temperature -10℃ to 40℃ and humidity ≤70%RH.

IV. Safety Prohibitions and Emergency Response

1. Prohibited Activities: The use of nail guns in flammable and explosive environments or damp locations is strictly prohibited. Unauthorized personnel (metal welding and cutting operations) are not permitted to disassemble or modify the equipment.

2. Abnormal Handling: If the surface temperature of the equipment exceeds 65℃ or abnormal noises occur during operation, operation must be stopped immediately and the matter reported to professional personnel for handling.
